The 2007 ATMOSPHERE™ (AsThMa OutcomeS and Patient AdHEREnce) CME Compendium is a comprehensive educational resource for allergists, pulmonologists, and other asthma specialists involved in the treatment, diagnosis and management of asthma. It includes the following components:

ATMOSPHERE™ has been planned in accordance with the need to provide allergists, pulmonologists, and other asthma specialists with the most up-to-date guidelines in asthma management and tools to help enhance patient adherence.

This educational activity is sponsored by The France Foundation and is supported by an educational grant from AstraZeneca.

NEEDS STATEMENT/TARGET AUDIENCE
Asthma represents a significant health risk and public health burden in the United States. Recent estimates show that 10% of the US population has had a diagnosis of asthma during their lifetime with almost 7% currently having asthma. Each year, an estimated 1.81 million people require treatment in an emergency department because of asthma, accounting for more hospitalizations than any other chronic illness. The cost of illness related to asthma is estimated to be around 14 billion dollars. Consequently, new strategies and therapeutic options have been recently developed to optimize treatment and overall control of asthma. This 2007 ATMOSPHERE™ activity will provide an interactive opportunity to educate asthma specialists on the latest treatment recommendations for the ongoing management of patients with asthma.

Upon completion of this activity, the participants should be able to:
